Después de más de 40 años de su lanzamiento, NikeLab presenta las NikeLab Cortez’72
Nike lleva más de 40 años liderando la innovación en la industria del calzado deportivo y encontrar soluciones a las necesidades del atleta sigue siendo su objetivo principal. Su filosofía de diseño siempre estará en deuda con Bill Bowerman que en 1940 comenzó una investigación para crear su propio prototipo de zapatillas y terminó con el lanzamiento en 1972 de las Nike Cortez.
La principal innovación que incluía esta zapatilla era un sistema de amortiguación en la entresuela que intercala una capa de caucho esponjoso duro entre dos capas de caucho de esponja suave. Esto mejoró la amortiguación proporcionando una mayor absorción del impacto en el talón.
Para homenajear a este icónico modelo, NikeLab Lanza NikeLab Cortez´72, una réplica de la primera Cortez, incluyendo los detalles zigzag en los laterales, una pestaña para tirar en el talón, una capa de goma en la puntera, esponja visible en la lengüeta y un upper de piel; y NikeLab Cortez Textil Collection, presenta uppers premium de ante, nylon y pana además de logos en 3D. Esta versión moderna de Nike Cortez está disponible en cinco colores.

In the late 1940s, Bowerman took a position as coach of a collegiate track and field team. His passion for securing a competitive advantage led to the creation of his own footwear prototypes. Bowerman’s experimentation began in the late 1950s and continued over several decades before landing on a fully articulated vision. The Nike Cortez, officially launched in 1972, cemented Nike’s mission to advance athletic endeavor.
The chief innovation included in the shoe was a midsole cushioning system that sandwiched a layer of harder sponge rubber between two layers of soft sponge rubber. This improved cushioning by providing advanced shock absorption at the heel. Bowerman smartly employed blue rubber to highlight the change in material density — form following function to turn technology into an aesthetic element.
