Con tan sólo dos singles publicados, el garage lo-fi de esta jovencísima banda madrileña ha conquistado a la prensa internacional y las ha llevado a girar por todo el mundo. Su debút largo, ‘Leave Me Alone’, llega para reafirmar su éxito. Sobre él charlamos con Ade, Amber, Ana y Carlotta.
Leave Me Alone: (Ade) “Es nuestra manera de presentarnos como grupo, mucho mejor que hacerlo a base de dos canciones, luego otras dos y así continuamente. Un disco es como una historia que estás contando y que estás creando como grupo, creíamos necesario ofrecer algo más. Cuando la gente escuche el disco va descubrir otro tipo de Hinds”. (Carlotta) “Hemos metido todas las canciones que íbamos componiendo a lo largo del año, no es que hayamos elegido nuestros doce mejores temas entre una lista de cuarenta. Cada vez que hacíamos una canción nueva sabíamos que iba a ir en el disco”.
En el estudio: (Carlotta) “La grabación fue super cómoda, porque no nos metimos en el estudio a investigar, sino que queríamos hacer un disco en el que toda la parte instrumental estuviera muy cercana al directo. Entonces cogimos las guitarras y los amplis que más se parecían a los nuestros, pero de mucha mejor calidad, y tocamos como si estuviésemos dando un concierto”. (Ana) “En casi todas las canciones las baterías, muchos bajos y las guitarras están grabadas a la vez, incluidos los punteos. Como muchas de las canciones ya las llevábamos tocando un montón de tiempo no era como aprender una canción y tocarla perfecta, sino que se nos hizo bastante fácil”.

With just two singles released, the garage lo-fi of this surprisingly young Madrid-based band has conquered the international press and led them to tour all over the world. Their debut full-length album ‘Leave Me Alone’ is here to reaffirm their success. We talk about it with Ade, Amber, Ana and Carlotta.
Leave Me Alone: (Ade) “It is our way of presenting ourselves as a group, which is much better than doing it based on two songs, then another two later and so on. A record is like a story that you are telling and creating as a group, we felt it was necessary to offer something more. When people listen to the record, they are going to discover another type of Hinds.” (Carlotta) “We have included all of the songs we have been composing throughout the year, we haven’t chosen our twelve best tracks from a list of forty. Every time we made a new song we knew that it was going to go on the record.”
In the studio: (Carlotta) “Recording felt really comfortable because we didn’t go into the studio to experiment, we went in because we wanted to make a record in which all of the instrumental elements sounded as if they were live. So we took the guitars and amps that were most similar to our own, but of much better quality, and we played as if we were performing a concert.” (Ana) “In almost all of the songs the drums, and a lot of the bass and guitar are all recorded at the same time, even the guitar licks. Seeing as we had already been playing a lot of the songs for a long time, it was not like learning to play a song perfectly, which made it relatively easy.”
