Entrevistamos al artista Paco Orti para el número de verano de Neo2 Magazine
Artista de 31 años acostumbrado a darlo todo hasta el final. Superó un cáncer, terminó arquitectura, y en los 2 últimos años ha sido finalista en los premios Reina Sofía, ArtFAD y Talento Joven CV.
Arte vs Arquitectura: “La opción por el arte frente a la arquitectura fue más bien por una necesidad vital. Más por lo mal que lo pasé durante un periodo de mi vida, que por lo mal que esté la arquitectura como profesión. Tras finalizar la carrera de arquitectura, como ya era consciente de esta necesidad creativa, me matriculé en la escuela de bellas artes de Valencia. Asistí durante unos 3 meses a clase, la formación reglada y ortodoxa ya no me satisfacía. Así, me convertí en autodidacta”.
Cáncer: “Sí, por fortuna, hoy puedo decir que estoy totalmente recuperado, tanto física como psicológicamente. Sobra decir que no ha sido nada fácil. Vivir una experiencia de este tipo ha sido fundamental a la hora de re-direccionar mi vida. Al principio intentaba vivir como si nada hubiese pasado, pero llegó un momento en que me di cuenta que no tenía sentido. Afortunadamente, llegó el día en que comprendí que la vida me había dado una segunda oportunidad y que tenía que vivir como si cada día fuese el último, con intensidad. Es por ello que decidí cambiar de vida y ser 100% fiel a mí mismo, independientemente de la opinión de mi entorno. Se podría decir que decidí buscarme a mí mismo, conectar con la vida a través de la creatividad”.

31 year old artist, used to giving his all right to the end. He got through cancer, finished architecture, and in the last 2 years has been a finalist in the Reina Sofia, ArtFAD and Talento Joven CV awards.
Art vs Architecture: “The decision I made choosing art instead of architecture was more of a life choice. More for what I went through over a period of my life than for how bad architecture as a profession is doing at the moment. After finishing my architecture degree, as I was more than aware of this creative need, I signed up to art school in Valencia. I went to class for 3 months, and the classes were strict and orthodox and didn’t satisfy me. So, I taught myself”.
Cancer: “Yes, fortunately today I can say that I am 100% cured, both physically and psychologically. There’s no need for me to tell you it wasn’t easy. Living through something like that was crucial in the re-directing of my life. At the beginning I tried to go on like nothing had happened, but there came a point at which I realised that it didn’t make sense. Luckily, the day arrived when I understood that life had given me a second chance and I had to live like every day was my last, intensely. That’s why I decided to change my life around and be 100% true to myself, independent of the opinions around me. You could say that I decided to find myself, connect with life through creativity”.
